Martin Brooks is a Scottish singer-songwriter and composer now living in London.
He has established himself as a musician under various musical styles and identities. His first release, Golden Tree, the music video of which has received over 420,000 youtube and vimeo views combined, established him as a quirky alternative rock singer-songwriter. He has released an alt folk album 'Territories' with his band, Slow Wolf; and has written dozens and dozens of folk / blues originals which he has performed over the years.
Martin has three new releases planned for the coming months. 'The Evergreens' (a small folk / blues EP that is currently being mixed). An EP of new folk music he is now fine tuning and will shortly be recording and playing live as a duo; you can here a demo sample of that here. Finally, what's likely to be a full album of epic multitrack originals that sit somewhere between dust brothers era Beck and Hot Rats era Frank Zappa.
Inspiration for Martin’s ever growing repertoire comes from the ordinary – house moving, self reflection and so on – to the fantastical: touching, escapist, bizarre-yet-true tales from the natural world.
As a composer, he has worked with a range of clients, providing high quality composed music and sound design for motion picture and interactive art for venues including the Serpentine Pavilion & Milan Design Week. Samples can be found here.
